This is a portrait of Yannick Noah. Yannick Noah was a very famous French tennisplayer and the first black man to win the French open in 1983.

Loes met him in a bar one night. Someone suggested he should sing and he did but Loes was not very impressed. At that point she had no clue who he was or that after his tennis career he started a successful singing career. It ended up being a very long night of talking and singing and Loes was touched by how positive and charismatic this man was.

When she found out who he was the next day, she decided to paint him. In green because that peaceful color suited him. It was Loes’ first uncommissioned piece of street art on Bonaire.
